Jeanine and Lucas and a studio christmas party

The two sculptures that I worked on in the last part of my residency have finally come back from the foundry and are ready for shipping. We had an upside down christmas party at our studio for the holiday. You can see more pictures at http://www.creativesculpture.com/blog.

Letters of recommendation....

I know that if you are planning on going to Vermont college there is information about letters of recommendation on the web site. WARNING it says you only need 2 letters on the web site, but the application says 3.

Here is GUIDELINES FOR RECOMMENDING for the MA program (FROM THE MA WEB SITE)

The Master of Arts Program offers students the opportunity to develop a program of individualized study, under the guidance and supervision of faculty advisors. Students undertake rigorous, independent study and internships, which culminate in a master's thesis or creative project. The program does not follow conventional patterns of university instruction and demands responsibility and discipline.

The Master of Arts Program makes significant use of the writing process as a way of communicating ideas, creating new perspectives, pondering questions, and sharing all of this with faculty, students and other scholars in the field. In your evaluation of this person, please reflect specifically on his/her abilities in this crucial area.

We would ask that in your evaluation, you consider the following attributes where appropriate:

ability to form concepts based on experience
ability to work independently
ability to organize
ability to carry out plans or projects
professional integrity
personal integrity
Please note the nature and duration of your relationship with the applicant and comment on the qualities that would allow him/her to participate successfully in our program.

Send your letter to: Vermont College Admissions, 36 College Street, Montpelier, VT 05602
(800) 336-6794 (802)828-8500

Did I mention I consolidated?

When you consolidate your school loans they ask you to forfeit your grace period of 6 months. It was worth it because I locked things in. You can call and ask for deferment again. I called VSAC, my loan people. I had one unsecured loan, which I didn't want to take but did. That collects interest right away. They have flagged my account to make any extra in my payments go first to this loan.

ALSO more loan information. You need to check with your graduate school to see what is considered part time. You want to be sure that you at least have part time study, otherwise your loans are not deferred.

Formal student photograph and silly one!

Each semester, while at residency we take a group photograph. Not everyone remembers to come when they are supposed to, but for the most part we do get a group. It rained that day so we had to take the photograph inside. After it was shot I screamed "Can we do a silly one!" So we did. So here they are silly and straight!
