Check list of things to do

Application - I dug out the application filled in out it is almost complete

Essay- I wrote the essay used my maximum length of 7 pages.  May revise it to be shorter

√ Transcripts  Paid for an ordered transcripts from Vermont College Union Institute and Houston Community College.

Letters of Recommendation Ask for letters of recommendation, this is difficult as Charlotte Hastings one of the three processors at Vermont College, has passed away.  That leaves Blythe and Susan.  I will try to get something to them by the end of the week. I may ask Joyce from the TW Wood gallery.

Study Plan I guess it was the Vermont College Masters Program that said I didn't really need this.  Goddard wants it as well as a bibliography.  I am beginning to feel like school again.

FASFA  I have to get to  this ASAP.  Lets see if I can get anything for financial aid.

PORTFOLIO and supporting information  There are so many directions that I want to go It will be difficult to send all supporting information. But I will try.

That is a lot to do.  Deadline for the fall is June 24, 2009 Though Philip suggested I get it in by end of May.

This blog always keeps me accountable.

Notice, I must think about graduate school in March

If you look at the posts below.  I began talking about graduate school last year, same month and date as this year.  Very interesting.

About the MFAIA- THE COST????

After a phone conversations with Philip at Goddard I am learning that the Masters of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts is 5 semesters long. Semester 1 and 2 are regular semesters of study.  Semester 3 is a practicum project- see website and application, semester 4 is another regular semester and the final semester you put together your portfolio or as we say at Vermont College your culmination semester.

For todays date  5 semesters at $7,502 a semester is $37,510  For the degree, hold up there is more
Philip tells me it is 544. for room and board.  that is room and three meals.  add an additional 3,264 to the bill.  Travel-  that is difficult to say from Houston 300?  $1,800.  Total cost $46,812 for a graduate degree.  YIKES!

One must be insane to do this in this economy?

Start the process again

Yes, I know I have said I would apply to graduate school before.  Changed my mind a couple hundred times.  Should I go for an MA in Psychology or a Master of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts ( MFAIA) . This month, this week I am acting upon the later.  My thoughts are that if I want to teach at a college level an MFAIA is necessary. Which I am not sure I want to do.  I have been told by colleges that I need 18 hours in each area and so it will be necessary for my MFAIA to reflect that.  Upon further reflection and talking with Goddard I find that transcripts are narrative from Goddard.  However, if I choose and request it I can also have traditional transcripts indicating the segments that I am looking for.  So, I guess this blog will be continued.
